We introduce a family of topological insulators that would be considered trivial in the paradigm set by the tenfold way, topological quantum chemistry, and the method of symmetry-based indicators. Despite having a symmetric, exponentially localized Wannier representation, each Wannier function cannot be completely localized to a single primitive unit cell in the bulk. Such multicellular topology is shown to be neither stable nor fragile, but delicate; i.e., the topology can be nullified by adding trivial bands to either valence or conduction band.</dc:description> <dc:identifier>https://materialscloud-archive-failover.cineca.it/record/2021.219</dc:identifier> <dc:identifier>doi:10.24435/materialscloud:ng-f1</dc:identifier> <dc:identifier>mcid:2021.219</dc:identifier> <dc:identifier>oai:materialscloud.org:1162</dc:identifier> <dc:language>en</dc:language> <dc:publisher>Materials Cloud</dc:publisher> <dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights> <dc:rights>Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode</dc:rights> <dc:subject>topological insulators</dc:subject> <dc:subject>delicate topology</dc:subject> <dc:subject>multicellular Wannier functions</dc:subject> <dc:subject>returning Thouless pump</dc:subject> <dc:subject>Hopf insulator</dc:subject> <dc:subject>SNSF</dc:subject> <dc:subject>ERC</dc:subject> <dc:subject>H2020</dc:subject> <dc:subject>MARVEL/DD6</dc:subject> <dc:title>Multicellularity of delicate topological insulators</dc:title> <dc:type>Dataset</dc:type> </oai_dc:dc>
